Euebius of Caesarea via Ambrose: "Woman" Designates Person as Disbeliever
From Ambrose Commentary on Luke:
Thus the scripture makes clear the difference between one Mary and the other. One runs to see Jesus, the other turns back; one is greeted, the other is shown to be mistaken. Conclusively, you have: "'Woman!' said Jesus to her": the one who disbelieves is a woman, and is so designated, by being addressed with her physical gender.
